Trying New Gardein Food Products

Hello all!

Today I have a review of some Gardein food products that I was able to get my hands on. I found them in the frozen foods section at a store in my area called Grocery Outlet. I’ve tried several Gardein products in the past, so I was pretty excited to try these!

A little disclaimer: This post is not sponsored. All of my opinions will always be 100% my own.✨

Let’s get into it!

The first product I tried was the Meatless BBQ Porkless Pockets. You get four pockets in the box. I baked three of them in the oven, and I microwaved the last one. That way I could test out two methods of cooking to see which one I liked best. My first impression of them was that they were small! See the photos I took below.👇

When I took the pockets out of the oven they were a very nice golden brown. Cutting into them was a different story. I noticed that the middle of the pocket wasn’t cooked through fully, and was still lukewarm. I wasn’t too happy about it since I followed the directions for cooking them in the oven. The filling was really tangy and just the right amount of spicy. If you can’t handle heat, you may not like these.🔥

The pocket that I cooked in the microwave was a lot different than the oven. It didn’t get brown and crispy, and the pocket had a soft and stretchy kind of texture. The entire pocket was cooked through though, and the filling was a lot better once it cooked properly. I definitely would choose microwave cooking over the oven with these!

The last product I tried were the Sweet and Sour Porkless Bites. A bag of sauce was also included in the bag to add to the bites. The directions recommended to pan fry the bites, but I was so lazy that I microwaved them instead. Honestly, I don’t regret it! Check out the finished dinner I made with them.👇

The bites cooked super quickly, which was awesome. I tossed them in the included sauce that I had warmed up, and paired them pretty simply with Jasmine rice and toasted sesame seeds. It was delicious! The texture of the bites was very similar to pork in my opinion, and the sauce was a great addition. My only complaint is that I wish they sold bigger bags of these. You really don’t get much to make a large meal.

I would probably purchase these again if I need some quick and easy food for the week!
