What I Do In a Day | Morning & Night Routine

I had the day off yesterday, so I’m going to be sharing all of the things I did for the day from beginning to end. And I’m going to let you know now, it’s not very exciting. I didn’t even see any fireworks, haha. 😛 With that being said, I hope you all had a wonderful 4th of July!

In today’s post you will see what I typically do on a day off (or on most other normal days) from the food I eat, things I watch, etc.

Alright, so let’s start with when I typically get up in the morning.

5:00 – 5:30 AM

You may be thinking I’m crazy for getting up at 5 in the morning, (normally I’d say the same thing), but it’s not a big deal for me. My boyfriend Josh has to get up at the same time to get ready for work, and I began to get into the habit of getting up with him. Starting my morning at the crack of dawn gives me some extra time during the day that I didn’t sleep through. 🙂
I’ll usually spend about a half hour just sitting in bed on my phone. Checking my notifications, looking at Instagram, Facebook, the whole nine yards.


5:40
 AM

Once I’m finally out of bed, I head to the bathroom to do my potty business and our cat Morty follows me for belly rubs while I sit on the pooper. 😺

I eventually make my way out to the kitchen and pour myself close to 1000 ml of water. I use a big mason jar for drinking water almost every morning. The jar helps me measure out how much water I should be drinking. I try to fill it back up periodically during the day to keep the habit going. If I am trying to detoxify or cleanse my body, I will add two drops of lemon essential oil to my water. It tastes sooooo good! 🍋

While I’m sipping my water, I take a break to feed Morty. He makes a mess every single time he eats. 

Sometimes he starts whining like a baby, so I pick him up and give him fur kisses. Check out my double chin.✨



5:55 AM

After I’m done with my water and kitty cuddles, I go over to our little coffee making area and pour myself a cup. Josh has already gotten up before I did, and made the coffee. What a sweetie. ❤️

Once I have my coffee the way I like it (one spoonful of coconut sugar and a generous amount of vanilla almond milk or coconut milk) I’ll sit down on the couch and go back to my phone with my coffee in hand.




6:30 AM

Josh has to leave for work, so Morty and I say goodbye. Then I will plop myself back down on the couch and turn on the TV.


7:00 AM

After surfing through Netflix for about a half hour, I usually find a show to put on in the background while I get some tidying done. I have to have something on whether it be music or a TV show to keep me motivated to clean up.

I decided to clean the kitchen, because it’s almost always messy. We don’t have a dishwasher *cringe* so I have to wash everything by hand. After washing as many dishes as possible, wiping things down, and sweeping the floors, I feel like chores are accomplished for the day.

7:40 AM

I’m pretty much done cleaning by now, so it’s time to go and wash my face. I like to use this lightweight Juice Beauty Cleansing Milk which is gentle and soothing for my face. I follow up with my serum and moisturizer, that I mentioned in my 30 Day Skincare Progress Report post. Go and check that one out if you haven’t read it yet! 




8:00 AM

After I wash my face, I’m ready to make my breakfast. I decided to have toast, but since there was only one slice of bread left I had to fill the gap with some fruit. No complaints here! I grabbed some cherries and two clementines to munch on as a replacement. On my toast I spread on some hummus and sprinkled some black pepper, chives, and nutritional yeast (a.k.a vegan gold dust).

I take my breakfast to the couch and put on a show or movie while I eat. What are your favorite shows right now? I like Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Orange Is The New Black, and Gilmore Girls. There’s plenty of other shows on my favorites, but it’s hard to watch them all at once. 😋


10:00 AM

The air was feeling / smelling a bit stale, so I diffused some of my essential oils. I mixed together lavender and clary sage and let those go for several hours. If you haven’t seen my Essential Oils First Impressions post, give it a read! I talk all about the oils I have and how I liked them.

I was also feeling hungry again, so I grabbed a snack. More hummus for the win! I love dipping carrots into it, or cherry tomatoes if I have them.




11:00 – 11:30 AM
This is normally when I’ll start thinking of things to make for lunch, and then I’ll get up and start a cooking spree in the kitchen. Yesterday I found some leftover sweet potato sauce in the fridge that I had made, and I decided to sauté some onions to go in it. I paired it up with some pasta (I eat way too much of it) and it was yummy!


12:00 PM

I am eating my lunch on the couch along with more Netflix, and by now the cat has his lunch served as well. While scrolling through some movies and shows, I found a documentary called Minimalism: A Documentary About the Important Things. It looked really interesting, so I watched it. I am so glad I did! It moved me to the point of getting up halfway through watching and going through all of our belongings. I started a massive purge / clean up of the entire apartment without even realizing what was happening. A few hours later I ended up with this pile. There is so much more space now, and I gained a lot of clarity in the process. Bye bye clutter! 👋 

3:00 PM

Josh is home from work by now. After he gets settled in, we are both on the couch either watching something or he’s playing a video game. Sometimes I’ll take a nap on the couch if I’m super tired. We pretty much do that up until dinner time.

Once we figure out what we want to do for dinner, we either cook or order food and then go back to the couch sitting and TV watching. 


8:00 – 9:00 PM

It’s around the time we get ready for bed. We feed the cat, fill up our water pitcher so it’s full in the morning 💦, I wash my face again, and Josh takes some melatonin pills to help him fall asleep. 

Lights go out, and its sleepy time. 💤

And yes, we go to bed pretty early. If we both have off the next day, we will stay up a lot later.
