I am so stuffed right now. The reason is because I went to a 100% vegan restaurant for the first time today. It was an interesting experience! Of course there will be a review up soon, along with all the photos I took and my overall review. For now, I would like to share what I’ve been up to lately. There’s a lot of things I’m enjoying at the moment, but I thought I would list the five most prominent ones. Let me know what you have been doing this month, or so far this year in general that is making you happy too 🙂
- Re-joing the gym
I renewed my membership to the gym this year, and I have been making it a major priority. Usually I will visit 3 or 4 times a week (by going every other day) and spend about 45 minutes on a workout. My favorite part of my routine is the treadmill, which I seem to always head to first. In the beginning I had to get used to it, but now I love it! Messing with all the different settings and buttons that guide your session is also fun. My goal is to get my running time longer and more intense with every visit.
2. Making healthier decisions
I like to occassionally remind others that just because I’m vegan doesn’t mean I eat vegetables and fruit around the clock. There are plenty of not so great foods and products out there that can contribute to a less than optimal vegan diet. My personal guilty pleasures are veg mayonnaise, veg sausage, and veg mac n’ cheese. Yikes.
Thankfully I have become much more aware about my daily eating habits, and I have made strides in getting back to where I should be with my eating and drinking. Less processed/packaged food, cutting back on added oils, drinking more water, more whole foods, more greens, eating more fruit or veggies as snacks, etc.
3. Learning how to knit
My second time behind a pair of knitting needles resulted in a pretty decent scarf. I liked this one so much, that I decided to keep it. I wear it out when it’s super cold. I was even skilled enough to figure out how to add the extra yarn tassels at the end. Yay!
My third project:
This is probably going to be another scarf. I hope I have enough yarn, haha. Getting the proper amount is still something I have to keep practicing. I’d like to get good enough to try making a blanket sometime. The possibilities are endless.
4. Finding more time to go out and do things
Spending time with this cutie is definitely my favorite.
Here he is again when we took a walk over a bridge that ended at a town across from ours. I I love being able to do fun things like this. It was a beautiful day, we caught Pokemon, and I got to see some pretty views. Making time to be outdoors is awesome. Especially with your significant other. 🙂
5. Our new kitty
This little fluffer is 5 month old Morty. He may look super cute now (which he certainly is), but he sure does get naughty quite often. This is the first time I have ever owned a cat, and the first time to raise a kitten into a proper adult. It is not a walk in the park, by any means. That doesn’t mean I don’t love him, because I loved him when we first met him at the shelter. We decided to adopt him the very next day, and since then he has settled in very well.
This one is saved as my phone wallpaper. 🙂
He is our little buddy.
Things he enjoys:
– chewing all kinds of surfaces and anything you are holding
– jumping on things he shouldn’t
– meowing like a baby for unknown reasons
– playing with all sorts of toys
Things he doesn’t like:
– the blender
– not being allowed inside the fridge
– doors being closed when you are somewhere he’s not
Having a new pet is a full-time job. I wouldn’t trade him for anything though. He is so much fun to watch while he grows and plays. I hope I can train him well, and be the best cat mama I can be. 🙂
That’s all for today, but I’ll be back again with another post this week!
