My skin used to be a constant annoyance. Whether it be from breakouts, bruising easily, getting too oily, too dry, etc. There always seemed to be something wrong with it at all times. Ever since I transitioned my eating habits to 100% vegan, it was only natural for my skin care routine to follow the same path.
I have tried several different types of products in the past, and none of them made a positive impact on my skin. Usually they would make the problem worse, or prolong the amount of time it took for my skin to heal. I have learned over time, that treating your skin with natural ingredients and methods is the best way to find results. Which brings me to my current lineup of products I am using.
Let’s start with body care!
From the left:
Nature’s Gate – Marine Mist Deodorant and Creme de Mint Toothpaste (free of nasty flouride) Spectrum organic and unrefined coconut oil – I use this entire jar for body moisturizer and occassionally for recipes. It is my favorite brand so far and works like a charm.
Intense Hydration Cream Cleanser with Clary Sage – Smells great, doesn’t dry out my sensitive face, and removes almost every inch of my makeup at the end of the day. Sensitive Daily Moisturizing Cream – I love using this in the morning after cleansing my face. It doesn’t have a strong scent, irritate my skin, or cause redness. My face ends up feeling softer and I have a better canvas for makeup application. Herbal Blemish Stick – Not sure whether or not I like this. I am almost finished with the stick, but have not seen dramatic changes when using it for breakouts and the occassional pimple here and there. It smells strongly of eucalyptus and tea tree oil (which I don’t mind, but you may find that unappealing). Mario Badescu Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs, and Rosewater – This is my second bottle of this stuff. I enjoy using it after cleansing, as a makeup primer, setting spray, and by itself during the day for extra moisture. Smells very fresh and gives my skin an extra boost whenever I use it. Definitely a must have!
Shea Moisture 100% Pure Argan Oil – I use this little bottle as a heat protectant whenever I straighten my hair, in the damp ends of my hair after a shower, occassionally mixed in with my face moisturizer, and by itself to gently remove eye makeup. It has no scent and leaves my hair and skin super shiny and smooth! Shea Moisture African Water Mint & Ginger Detox Hair & Scalp Gentle Shampoo – This shampoo smells like a huge mint bomb hitting your head, which I LOVE. It cleans the heck out of my hair and removes any buildup and dullness. I pair that shampoo with the Shea Moisture Coconut & Hibiscus Curl & Shine Conditioner – This stuff smells incredible and makes my hair soft and manageable for most of the week.
That small little jar is my own homemade lip balm/gloss! The main ingredient is coconut oil, but if you would like to see a full recipe you should let me know in the comments! 😉
